Iraqi National Assembly

Things have been a little more exciting at the compound in the last 12-24 hours. With the Iraqi National Assembly meeting today in the green zone, there has been more mortar fire in the distance. The assembly apparently failed to choose a speaker, the palace is on semi-lock down and we are staying close to home base. The only way to have any idea what is happening is to read the internet news. Many folks have told me when they hear mortars they check cnn.com to see what has happened.

I am still having trouble sleeping, falling asleep between 8-10pm but waking up about 1am confused whether it is night or day. I hope to become acclimated soon. I have been trying to go to the gym daily to workout with some of the other soldiers. I borrowed the book Smart girls do dumbbells from the outgoing psychiatrist in hopes of becoming real buff by the time I return home. Cole and Jay may not recognize me!

Thanks to everyone for all the Easter greetings. I had a nice time hanging out with my unit. We had a large pit barbeque with steak and lobster. It was real tasty. The vet unit cooked the lobster and my unit cooked the steaks and fixins. (You wouldn't believe how busy the gym was the monday after Easter!)

I sent some seeds today. The marigolds are to keep the bugs away from the veggies. I don't think you'll be there long enough for the watermelons, but they should grow good there. I tried to get a map of the area today and they are pretty much non-existant. Guess I will go online to find one. Mom
